Countdown to Christmas.....the tree!!!

Activity for yesterday (saturday the 5th) was putting up our homely Charlie Brown tree! Its one of the pre-lit ones that we bought the year Brayden was born. When we went to plug all the lights in there was only about 8 branches lit up. I hate messing with Christmas lights! Especially ones that are built into the branches....what a pain! So we had to string our own lights on...the kids had a lot of fun putting the ornaments on this year. My neurotic self had to take some deep breaths so that they could actually enjoy decorating. I only 'fixed' a few of the ornaments that were in danger of falling off or breaking. Speaking of breaking, yeah, the tree was up for less then an hour and the kids each broke an ornament. Most of the ones on the tree are the shatter proof ones, but we did put a handful of others that I thought would be ok on the tree.....yeah, they didnt last. I boxed them back up ;) The last pics in this post are a closeup of the ornament we got at Bronners this year. Each year we pick a new family ornament and brayden chose ours this year :)

Countdown to Christmas......no pics

So I was a lazy momma and didnt really plan much for yesterdays activity. I wasnt feeling that great so we spent the day reading Christmas books and dancing to Christmas music as our fun holiday activity. The kids didnt seem to mind too much, they still had fun :) Today we plan to put up the tree so I will get some pics of that for our activity later this evening. They are really excited, we'll see how it goes with Owen and the tree this year.....

Countdown to Christmas.....Santa Mall, sort of....

Santa try #2.....we took the boys to the Monroe Mall tonight to see Santa and then drove around and looked at Christmas lights afterwards. Owen did much better with Santa this time, though he didnt want to actually sit ON Santa's lap, he did stand next to him and hold his hand :) So thats progress! We didnt get any pics with Santa because they charge you a fee to take a picture with your own camera, I know crappy huh!? And I sure as heck wasnt paying $10 for the little polaroid they had there....SOOOOO no pics WITH Santa....just the boys and the Christmas Tree behind Satna for tonight LOL They still had a good time and Santa gave out coupons for a free cookie at Mrs Fields :) Then we drove around and saw some lights....here are a few pics of the evening.

Countdown to Christmas.... Snowflakes

Day 2: We watched Happy Feet and I wanted to make penguins but I couldnt get the printer to work for that craft so we had a slight change of plans and made paper snowflakes instead :) The kids had a lot of fun, though Owen was mostly excited that he got his own pair of scissors to use LOL Brayden did really well making his and wants to make more tomorrow. Daddy even got in on this craft!

25 Days of Christmas!

Each day from now until Christmas day we will be doing a fun holiday activity. So check back each day for a new post! (I hope that I can keep up with posting everyday LOL )

Day one: first day of the Christmas Chain that Brayden made at school and a new movie, Merry Madagascar! The kids saw part of the movie on tv a few days ago and loved it so I picked it up for them as their day 1 activity on our countdown to Christmas!

Kris Kringle Village

Let the holidays begin! We will be doing lots of fun stuff this year, cant wait!!

First thing we did (aside from seeing the lights at the zoo, that was technically first I suppose) was take the kids to Kris Kringle Village at the Erie Street Market. It was a lot of fun! Especially for being a free event, love those ;) They had a magic show which the kids LOVED, people singing Christmas Carols, a gingerbread house competition, a bounce house, cookie decorating, arts and crafts and of course Santa!! My mom and dad came with us and I think they enjoyed themselves too. Owen wasnt too impressed with Sanat as seen below...poor kid was SO excited the whole time we waited in line but as soon as we got up there he burst into tears. Maybe we will try it again later this season??

Anywho, here are the pics from that day!

Whew!!

That was a lot to do all at once :P What better way to spend my saturday night!? LOL Look for some upcoming posts: Owen's trip to the dentist, a field trip to the new Imagination Station, some samples of our Holiday Pics, and our Thanksgiving adventures :)

Lights At The Zoo

Today was a perfect day to go see the lights at the zoo! It was a sunny 55 today so this evening was really enjoyable to be outside. The kids LOVED seeing all of the lights, especially the section where the lights are synchronized with Christmas music. They danced their little hearts out <3 We didnt get many pics though :( We came right from Brayden's basketball game and I only had my little camera that I keep in my purse and not our big guy that would have taken much better pics. Ah well, we got a few so I thought I would share them.

Go Blue!

Its that time of year! The big OSU vs Michigan game! Well the game didnt go so well for us Michigan fans but the kids hd a lot of fun getting pumped up for it and having our own little pep rally :) We filled the livingroom with balloons, we made posters to hang on the walls, decorated blue and yellow cupcakes and wore our Michigan gear :) Even my little borrowed buckeye Amelia (I babysit her) had fun coloring with maze and blue :p Brayden is already making plans for a better party next year he said! LOL
